Cell Tower In Sherwood WI

In a November meeting of the Board, AT&T recieved approval for the construction of a 100' cell tower to be located near the pumphouse off Stommel Road. Some residents have questioned why this tower is a benefit. It's true enough that although an effort was made to notify residents in the area surrounding the tower location, several homes were missed and this lack of information has inflamed a distrust of the municiple governing members. Let me attempt to provide a little background on the project, the justification and your options to voice an opinion. You can access images of the proposed project and get answers beyond what I'm offering here by contacting Randy Friday, Administrator at administrator.sherwood@newbc.rr.com

The communications company likes this location near the pumphouse #5 because it provides solid cell coverage to the lower cliff and marina areas of the village. AT&T could install the tower a few hundred yards north which would affect the views of fewer homes but would put the tower into the Town of Harrison and thus shift the income to that municipality while we'd still have the tower visible as we enter our village from Stommel Road. Residents in opposition that attended the public hearing in November voiced concern about potential health effects, though no evidence of harm was made available. The board did have research showing the range of cell eminations is less than 30' which on a 100' tower means no effect to those even walking underneath the structure. The earnings from a cell tower is estimated at $18,000/yr for the village.

Now when I visited 300 homes and talked with residents during my stumping for this thankless job, I heard over and over "What are you going to do to reduce my taxes?" and I promised to vote against expenditures that were beyond infrastructure and maintenance requirements and to vote for projects that would bring income into the village. It's that simple. That's why I was in favor of this proposal.

Not in agreement still? You are encouraged to come to the Board meeting on Monday Nov 22 and voice your displeasure. The contract is not yet signed. Gather an impressive list of residents opposed to the cell tower in a petition. I wish you luck and respect your opinion.

Obama Set Back, A Vote For Freedom

Americans have spoken. We've exercised our right to choose our Country's path, to choose the direction we want for our State, both in very serious economic strife, and today the people win. Some believe this election is a pronouncement against the Obama administration, others see the outcome as a vote against all incumbants which expresses sheer disgust with all government. Many are disappointed, even angry with the President who they believed would bring a new unity among Americans greater than ever before. That he would change government, not make it even more bloated. Obama's attacks against citizens that don't support his actions is atrocious. Never have I heard or seen this type of low level political rhetoric from the leader of the greatest country in the world. It's simply unpresidential and shows a complete lack of respect for his role in leading ALL the people. With the results in we can now hope that a new direction will take shape. Not a reversal to the same stagnant position we saw in previous administrations but a rebirth of the founding principles, where we the people embrace the republic under which we are blessed to live with freedoms to achieve or fail, with honor, with integrity, and renewed faith in the American way.

Fear Monger?

Glenn Beck consistenly strives to bring disparate elements together in ways that shock the viewer into seeing clarity where it wasn't apparent individually. Journalistic hype? I don't believe so. Logic and truth through painful cannot be denied.

Tonight Mr. Beck addresses the Fabian Socialists of 1884 (http://www.nolanchart.com/article4425.html), George Bernard Shaw's eugenics solution (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQvsf2MUKRQ), Woodrow Wilson's progressivism and how the gradual nudge toward, an otherwise appauling goal ,"for the greater good", succeeds where the direct leap would never get traction. We appear to be on the precipice of sliding into this frightening deep pit of socialism. Educate yourself. And then VOTE, make a difference in the future of our country.

Thank God for Mr. Beck's passion to save America?

Thomas Jefferson

I predict future happiness from Americans if they can prevent the Government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
--- Thomas Jefferson

It is uncanny that men 150 years ago had the vision to see what degradation could potentially occur. Jefferson and others warned us. We stopped paying attention when we allowed the supreme court to interpret the Constitution as they saw fit and forbid the pledge and prayer in schools. That led to dropping the teaching of the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

So here we are, the hapless sheep who've been taught 'tolerance' have now allowed ourselves to not even realize that We The People, emboldened by our Constitution can decide the fate of our country. Is it too late? Are we too weak, too tired, too dependent on Government to wean ourselves from its grasp and flourish like the leaders who came before us with integrity, honor, commitment, faith and courage.

Quote of the Day

I've been reading a lot the past couple months about our constitution, the founding fathers and assessing why we think we can follow the mistakes of European countries before us and not have the same sad result. More than a century ago, men who gave us liberty could see the dangers and they had less education and less comparative wealth than those men now deciding the fate of our country. The founding fathers did have in abundance HONOR and INTEGRITY.

A democracy ceases to exist when you take from those willing to work and give to those who would not. ---Thomas Jefferson

Tree Swallows Take To The Sky

Two nests of Tree Swallow chicks fledged (left the nestbox) this weekend. Safe travels little ones. You'll likely see them about in increasing numbers now. The newly fledged chicks are deep gray in color as compared to the browner shade of the female adult and irridescent blue of the male. And both nests of bluebirds have hatched. We'll add images of those soon.

Village Board Meeting 6/14

Improper Agenda. It is my opinion that Monday's meeting agenda deters village residents from attending because a training session has been put into the time allotted for the Board meeting pushing the start time to 8:00pm. A training session should be scheduled before or after the regular meeting or at any other time during the week, certainly not in place of the reasonable, earlier, accustomed timeframe for our regular meeting. Doing so suggests a disregard for resident involvement or worse, creates suspicion of an ulterior agenda.

Bluebirds Make Village Home

More pale and slightly smaller than a Robin's egg, laid in a carefully woven grassy nest, the Eastern Bluebird has two nests underway at Sherwood Forest Golf Course! Stay informed as these families progress.
You can help Bluebirds by removing House Sparrow nests every week from boxes in your yard. House Sparrows are not protected, will kill Bluebirds and in fact the DNR encourages you to keep them from nesting. The easiest thing to do is simply plug your box and enjoy its appearance.

Bluebird arrival on new trail

There are 17 boxes up at the Sherwood Forest G.C. and the battle to remove invasive House Sparrows was arduous. But our efforts have paid off. A pair of beautiful Bluebirds just built a nest near an oak grove. Perfect. Early morning sun, mid afternoon shade, low grasses for easy feeding. The remaining boxes are nearly full with Tree Swallows leaving just 4 boxes available for bluebirds seeking a second nesting. Welcome Bluebirds. We await thee.

Village Board Mtg 5/24

$30,000 approved to rebuild pumphouse #5 on a vote of 5:1. I voted NO. It isn't logical to me that our village has spent nearly $4 million to connect to the Appleton water source; that we have a backup system for that new water supply in pumphouse #6 so we should completely rebuild a broken down #5 to the tune of $30,000 for a secondary backup to the backup system. Redundancy that goes beyond practical in my view. "It'll add assets to our balance sheet" yeah, so will cash in a savings account!

Political Opinion

I enjoy a good debate and welcome you to challenge my views with your own.

Like a growing number of Americans, I'm concerned about the state of our nation's economy. I've been concerned for several years already not just since the recent hype hit the news. History is our best teacher. And when I look at the basics it's not hard to summarize; post war baby production entered the workforce with alot of tax dollars entering the system. Debt could be high because income was high and investments from other countries very high. Today, we don't have the baby boom to demand hard goods, lower hard goods production is further challenged by China and India with unlimited low wage resources and our increased aging and unemployed citizens strain a failing 'welfare' system. The candle is burning at both ends and this cannot be sustained. Is this why we should legalize 15 million illegal aliens? Will that add the tax dollars we need? Perhaps in a strong economy but in a state where jobs are not available means alot more people on the wrong end of the system. France, England, Germany, Spain, Greece have all found that a system of universal health care and paid retirement programs cannot be sustained. Looked at the Euro lately. It is on the verge of collapsing from the strain with no way to improve short of increasing the retirement age and reducing health benefits. Hmmm. We already have those elements in place and our government thinks NOW we can add these generous programs? It is insanity. That's my perspective. What's yours.

Sherwood Forest GC Bluebird Trail

Diane and I had a super day today, though the weather was miserable, as we found several Tree Swallow nests, #9 and #10 with 2 and 6 pure white eggs respectively. Three other boxes have completed Swallow nests and we should have egg laying soon. On the maintenance front, We set 4 traps and successfully removed 2 male House Sparrows. It is very desireable to get the male as the female will generally move from that location. We also had 4 boxes that had House Sparrow eggs already totaling 11 which we disposed of. the disruption may encourage them to nest behind the sign at the hardware store and leave our boxes open for bluebirds.

Village Board Interest

The DOT will present plans for future traffic management on Hwy 114! This is a meeting you want to be involved in. Even though the agenda puts your opinions up first, before you even hear the plan, get your name on the list and request an opportunity to speak after the DOT presentation. You can then decline when offered. But at least you know you'll get a chance to voice your valued opinion and ask critical questions.

Of secondary note: If you wish to express your preference for natural versus paved trails in the village plans you need to attend Monday's meeting 5/10 at 6:30. See you there.

More Eggs Named

The clever kids in 3rd Grade at Sheridan Grade School have put together more names for our anticipated wood duck chicks. #7 "Duckie, #8 "Quackie", #9 Daffy, #10 "Madera" (wood in Spanish), #11 "Sheridan". Love it! Well done.

And if I may suggest, could we name one Mrs P?

Names for the ducklings

From Mrs. P's 3rd Grade Sheboygan WI class:

We worked on names today and came up with the following: #3 "Donald", #4 "Daisy", #5 "Cinco" (since we're learning Spanish), #6 "Mayo" (which is May in Spanish).

You kids are sure using your creative skills. Nicely done. I love the mix of English and Spanish. April assures me she'll be able to keep track of who's who.

Doyle Damages Our State...Even More.

Govenor Doyle's passage of a global warming bill disguised as a 'green' jobs program will result in skyrocketing energy costs and 43,000 jobs lost statewide (according to a WPRI study). Your energy bills are estimated to triple because of the renewable electricity mandate costing WI residents $16 billion. And that's just one example of the harmful effect of this inept administration. You can attribute the coming higher gas prices, 61 cents per gallon, to cover another $3.2 billion for a global warming tax. The bottom line is this will cost more than $1000 per household each year over the 10 years of implementation. Spain lost 2.2 jobs for every temporary 'green' job, Germany spent $240,000 for every 'green' job it created and the programs have resulted in failure for all. Clearly, Governor Doyle and the Obama administration think that somehow because we're the U.S. we will have different results than the countries who failed before us. Sounds alot like the healthcare plan to me. The arrogance is astounding.

Wood Duck Dinner

"April" teased us for two nights, foregoing her dinner break as dozens watched ustream.tv/quacker-cam for her to cover the eggs before leaving. Not to be. But tonight she did not disappoint. It's amazing that she leaves not a trace of ever having been there. Anyone or thing peering in would have no clue of the treasure she has hidden below the down blanket.

Hey kids, I need another name. We're down to 14 days until they hatch.

Village Board Meeting 4/26

It was my first meeting. I requested that the Rules of the Board be changed to state that citizen positions on committees are to be held by non-trustees. Presently that is not the case and could be construed as priming the pump on decisions. Another topic of concern is the TIF expenditures for the sprinkling system at High Cliff Golf Course. I'm told it's been in the works for over 15 years now so there's history here that I simply haven't gotten to the bottom of yet. But it sure seems to me that the owner has little incentive to maintain the existing system when there's a promise of funds down the road. And I have trouble seeing how this expenditure raises revenues for the village. But it does fit in the definition of recreation improvements since the deal will result in properties for parks and trail easements. I voted against the program along with Joyce Laux. It passes. My focus must be the future. But I need your input continuously to know what you want for the future of our village. Be heard.

HUNTING: in State Parks approved

State Parks are no longer for all citizens, all year long. WI Statute 29.089 was passed to allow trapping and hunting on WI State Park Lands, giving the DNR the authority to regulate the activities. Now I feel safe knowing the DNR will ensure the safety of the residents of Sherwood living along the park boundaries and for my safety as I bird quietly in subdued colors. Don't you too? Contact the legislators and scream your opposition!

SFGC Bluebird Trail Report 4/23

Tree Swallow nests have been started in 6 nestboxes (#2, 4, 5, 8 10, 11). They are a neat placement of cupped grasses unlike the previous post showing a House Sparrow nest; sloppily built right to the roof. There are no bluebirds apparent at this time. I trapped and destroyed 3 House Sparrows and 2 eggs. Box #9 had a dead Tree Swallow (seen here), with a House Sparrow nest built atop her. Devils. The male HS will enter the box immediately after the Swallow, trapping her and peck her to death with that vicious seed-eating beak. Yes I'm mad. It was good intention that lured that Swallow to her death. Vigilance must prevail.

VIDEO -Keeping Warm on Cold Nights

You can see that our hen has so many down feathers pulled from her breast to create the brood patch that ensures direct warmth to the eggs, but also pulled from her back and under her wings. I doubt she has a single one left. The down is mixed with the 4" of pine shavings we placed in the box for her to start with. I'm sure it helps alot on a cold night like last night.

Live cam now available

I'll continue to post the small video clips every couple days of the best activity but incase you'd like to view for yourself, we'll do our best to keep a live stream during the day from 6:00am to 9:00pm. You can link to the live stream via www.ustream.tv/channel/quacker-cam-wood-duck-nesting. Enjoy and thanks for watching.

VIDEO: Breakfast time

The past couple nights have been really chilly and April hasn't left for the usual breakfast break. Today it was a bit warmer and she decided to take the break at 6am. We can watch her preparing to leave the nest, making sure to cover each egg thoroughly.

Barack Country Song

I can't help but be sarcastic when hearing that it's the rich that are unhappy with Obama's plans to bring 'fairness' to our country. This video clearly shows that downhome, no frills folks feel the same trepidation about the course this administration is taking us...inspite of our growing protestations.

4/18 Sherwood Forest Bluebird Update

Diane and I set off at 8:00am to check the 17 nestbox bluebird trail. We found box #2 had a partial nest that looks promising as a bluebird nest though none were in sight. Several others have active Tree Swallow pairs claiming boxes. We also found the expected diligence of House Sparrows. These nests are sloppy, filling the box with all kinds of grasses and trash. These nests were removed in accordance with BRAW guidelines.
If you would like to assist in monitoring this trail, let us know.

A Wood Duck's Daily Chores

What does April do in the box all day long? She sleeps, she pulls downy feathers, and she rolls those eggs about every half hour to keep them equally warm on all sides. Today she didn't take a morning breakfast (much to my disappointment as I was outside from 5:00am-8:00 hoping to capture a shot of her leaving). I'll bet she's getting hungry.

April's Down Comforter

The incubation is in full swing. You can see how extensive the downy blanket is she made. April is a dedicated hen. She sits on the nest all day with the exception of a short 30 minute break at about 6:00am and again about 7:00 pm. Not much time to stretch her legs and enjoy a meal with Apollo. Mark your calendar. We should have hatchlings by about May 10th. Maybe every couple days until then, Mrs. Petersen's class would like to come up with 13 names for the chicks. Have fun kids!

Bluebird Trail - Sherwood Forest Golf Course

The baseline nestbox check on Sunday showed that Tree Swallows have arrived in forced. They are amazing flyers with irridescent blue uppers and white lower parts and a lovely liquid chortle they speak to each other. The nests for bluebirds and swallows will begin in earnest now. A male was spotted along the 3rd hole. I am trapping non-native House Sparrows. If you're curious about this process, feel free to invite me to show you.

Village Board Meeting 4/12

The board approved (with the exception of Joyce Laux) the TIF funding of the High Cliff Golf Course to the tune of $349,000 for an automated watering system. The original bid was $318,000 last fall. I'm more than disappointed that no board member attempted to negotiate the increase of $30,000 nor suggested that perhaps the project should be rebid, at least there was no discussion at this meeting for the public to hear. I officially take my position at the next meeting on the 26th. I would have joined Joyce in a no vote had I been on active duty. We gain what? Three 1 acre non-contiguous parcels of property. There is little protection for our village. The legalities request this property remain a golf course. But if it goes into foreclosure is the bank or the next buyer obligated to that promise? Supposedly, but then why is the bank concerned about formal easements for walking trails? Living on the 13th or 14th fairway, you may lose the privacy of your backyard view that you've enjoyed up to now. But living on the golf course I guess you'll appreciate the more lush, deep green grass rather than the pockets of unkempt 'rough '. I realize that sarcasm isn't helpful, even disrespectful, but this blog is about sharing opinions openly. I hope you'll speak up too. It 's the only way I know how YOU want me to vote on the next issue.

VIDEO: Bug in my box

To Mrs. Petersen's 3rd grade class: "April" is incubating her eggs now, apparent as she is on the nest constantly. I believe there are 13, the same as last year. This video shows her getting a small snack while 'working'. I'm setting up a blind at an unintrusive distance and hope to capture her leaving the box in the next few days. There is no sign of "Apollo". He is hiding somewhere, I just haven't found him. Perhaps early in the morning he'll show.

Saturday, April 10, 2010

VIDEO: Pulled Downy

Today on day nine of laying, April pulled several downy feathers from her breast. The "brood patch" puts her skin in direct contact to warm the eggs during incubation. This video clip shows her covering the eggs before leaving for the day, hiding her precious creation.

Friday, April 9, 2010

VIDEO- Watch the Wood Duck action!

"April" laid her 8th egg this morning, taking an extra long nap afterward with bill tucked under her wing due to the 25 deg temps. She'll be cautious not to let the temperature of the eggs rise to the minimum incubation temp until she has laid the full brood, 10-15 typically.

Thank You Voters

Just a brief note of appreciation to all of you who took the time to cast your vote of support. I will officially join the Board as Village Trustee on April 26th. But your concerns are my concerns today and I'm interested in hearing from you.

Phosphorous Reductions

The newly proposed rules would affect industry and municipal wastewater treatment plants that release phosphorus in their discharges to Wisconsin water bodies following the parameters already in place for farming operations.

Too much phosphorus entering our waterways generates excessive algae growth. We've seen the affects on Lake Winnebago in particular. Several public hearings on the proposed rules are held throughout the state this month. FYI: April 20, Green Bay City Hall, Council Chambers, Room 203, 100 N. Jefferson, St. at 1:00pm.

Woodduck Egg #3

I've named her April. She's likely the same female that nested last year but I didn't have Quacker Cam then to capture her activities. She arrived at 6:46am much later than yesterday, laid her 3rd egg, covered the grouping of eggs with shavings and departed at 7:55. He waited patiently and the pair flew off to other foraging grounds until tomorrow. Departing helps keep the presence of a nest 'hidden'.

Saturday, April 3, 2010

Wood Duck Cam

My husband installed a bird cam in our wood duck box so we can share the joy of nature with you. This is day two of laying. She'll continue to lay one egg per day 10-15 eggs total before incubating. We hope to add live streaming soon so you can see her tend to the eggs up through the big day of fledging the brood.

Stumping for Village Trustee

Friday was spent meeting residents as I traveled on foot throughout the village for a second day. Over 100 homes were visited and I spoke with many concerned citizens about the rapid growth in Sherwood. Saturday will be another big day for me to meet and greet. Thanks to those of you who support my efforts by passing the word... Vote Terri.

Aftershock Review Details

You asked... and I share my views. Here is my summary of the recommendations in the book Aftershock. Stay away from stocks, long term bonds and real estate investments until after the dollar bubble bursts. (It is apparently on the precipous). Timeframes? In the next 1-2 years housing values will plummet once more, banks will fail, unemployment, inflation and interest rates will rise to double digits. In the next 5 years this chaos will continue as the value of the dollar drops. Short term solutions: money markets and short term government bonds. Sell your massive homes now, buy smaller. Sell your collectibles while they still have value. If you're market savvy, shorting stocks using LEAPS is a good option. Safer is shorting bear fund stocks based on the S&P 500 index. Long-term: the world banking system is stressed meaning Gold ETFs and bullion and u.s. produced coal, grain and beef should be good. Aftershock predicts gold will remain strong for 10 years. Even with all the gloom, the secondary dip to come will not be depression level pain for the u.s. and the backside of the this slide will be a stronger economy based on real growth not debt bubbles. Thanks for asking.

Thursday, April 1, 2010

40 homes were visited yesterday as I campaigned for Village Trustee. More of you will see me today and throughout the weekend. You'll know my position is first and foremost fiscal responsibility. As a small business owner, I think taxpayer funds should be treated as cautiously as I treat my own income. I also maintain a high regard for informing citizens and gathering feedback before my vote is cast. This blog will aide me in hearing your views.

I respectfully ask for your vote on Tuesday April 6th.

Village Board Meeting 3/22.

High Cliff Golf Course owner and mgr stated that there are big leak problems in some water piping, the piping that's needed to feed the new in-ground sprinkling system village TID funds are paying for. So who's to pay for the fixes to those pipes? That wasn't discussed so I don't have an answer. BTW, the cost est. for this 'gift' has already climbed from $320-349,000. It wasn't clear how this increase impacts the budgeting of TID funds for other projects. The village looks to gain two small 1 acre parcels of land from the deal and an easement to a trail (I believe the Nature's Way trail system). The owner expressed concern for the financial stability of the golf course. No questions were posed on how a default of the loose agreement would impact our village or our TID investment. Lastly, there was a mention of HCGC adding a lighting system to the front 9 holes to offer evening play. There was no indication of how or when this project would take place.

Bluebird Trail update

#16 Smoh's Trapped a female House Sparrow and shortly thereafter a brilliant male Bluebird appeared interested in that nestbox. He'll likey check out several before settling. Those that are clear of nesting material and with no House Sparrow annoyances, will be first choice so if you're on the Sherwood Forest course and see House Sparrows entering a box near your home persistently, please notify myself or Diane and we'll see that the problem is addressed to improve your chances of enjoying a Bluebird visitor.

Bluebird Trail Update

No bluebird activity observed or reported by residents. Nestbox 17 and 8 have House Sparrow problems. A male removed from box 8, a female from box 17. Removing males generally results in a few days peace before another male takes over the undefended territory.

AFTERSHOCK book review

This book is not for the faint of heart. But if you, like me, enjoy the intricacies of economics and you can objectively debate the projections, you will find this a hearty foreboding of what's to come and how to protect your earnings and assets. Put a comment up and we can start that debate.

March 8th Village Board

You should know that the Village Board meeting on Tues March 8th will discuss spending $22,000, that's (roughly $1000 per household) to install pond plants in some storm water retention ponds. They'll also talk about the incremental tax funds that will be given to the High Cliff Golf Course for an irrigation system and arrangements for the annual Triathalon. Now I've heard that very little of the monies from that event go to the Friends of High Cliff. I intend to find out if the taxpayers of this village benefit from the disruption to our streets and parking in the State Park and Marina, this event causes. Also on the agenda are budget amendments which should be interesting. I hope to see you there.

Village Board Meets About TIF Funds, Jan 25 2010

There is much discussion about TIF money spending and reclassification of districts. There is a great deal to know about this topic, more than can be covered in this blog posting. Just know that decisions are imminent. The Board is hoping to achieve a reduction in your taxes, maintain a safety margin for unforeseen expenditures, and return millions to the tax rolls which will benefit the education members in our tax district.

Learn about the TIF funds http://www.cows.org/pdf/rp_tif.pdf. Then watch my blog for updates. As the board moves forward a public hearing will be announced, probably late March to late April. Watch your mailbox and be prepared to share your views with this blog, your neighbors and at the hearing.

Sarah Palin Renews Down-To-Earth Politics

I've enjoyed an encouraging response by those who know me when I tell them I'm running for local office. Then I'm asked why now? I hate politics, the kind of detestable politics we've seen in many decades of government where political correctness and moderation of a position to win power has destroyed the ethics and integrity that are necessary in any public servant position. Local office is a venue for 'do-gooders' truly because there is so little power temptation to subvert good intention.

I attended a few Tea Party rallies in 2009 where local service was touted as one way to make a difference. Sarah Palin's convictions gave me the push to do so. If you share my views you can follow her facebook updates on http://www.facebook.com/sarahpalin. I believe it is my responsibility to do what I can to keep this community the special place I'll spend the rest of my life. I invite you to add your comments of support OR debate.

Wildlife in High Cliff

Since the DNR began issuing hunting licenses in our citizen owned state park many of you have been concerned about the loss of the deer. This buck was seen and photographed two springs before the hunting permits were approved. (You can find who voted for and against this in the village records.) And I'm happy to report he or perhaps a look alike has been seen again in all his splendor.

Village Trustee Candidate Announcement

I am announcing my candidacy for Sherwood Village Trustee. A long time resident of Sherwood I am deeply attached to this community and I'm eager to do all I can to maintain the integrity of our village, reduce taxes, and through this blog, give residents a readily available public forum for sharing concerns and praise. Should you elect me for Village Trustee I vow to use this blog to keep you informed in a timely fashion of meeting minutes, local activities, opinions and more. This blog provides opportunity for you to BE HEARD. In this age of instant messaging, there is no reason for delays in getting information out to the people who are impacted by our village issues. Thank you in advance for your interest, your participation and your vote.
